Still a youngster, but already doing a great job!
May 27, 2018 is the 15th anniversary of the first WordPress release from wordpress.org.
We can’t believe the way that WordPress has come since it’s initial start in 2003 – it’s really impressive.
In this timespan WordPress has developed from a rather simple blogging tool (the best from the very start) to a almost fully fledged CMS with professional potential to a degree where many large organisations and companies around the world are choosing WordPress as their preferred platform.
Since it’s start in 2003 WordPress today has developed into (well – almost) world domination, right!?
By 22. april 2018 WordPress is running 30.6% of all websites in the world with a CMS marketshare of 60,1%. These numbers are so impressive!1
WordPress.com runs approx. 76.5 million WordPress blogs and reaches 181 million monthly unique views – the 4th most viewed platform in the US after Google, Facebook, and Yahoo.2
WordPress.com – Live activity
Sitting watching the live stream of WordPress.com activity across the globe is really entertaining and fascinating and it’s solid proof of WordPress’ succes.
We just love WordPress and we want to congratulate everyone at wordpress.org for doing a fantastic job.
We also want to say thank you for an open-source product that just keeps getting better and better.
Without the Open Source mindset and principles behind WordPress and the vast network of core developers, plugin developers and theme developers WordPress wouldn’t really be where it’s at right now.
So also thank you to all of you who develop free solutions and paid solutions for WordPress.
You’re all doing a great job!
